Mark Russell

Universal Publishing Production Music Composers
music for production

Mark is a Bafta and Ivor Novello nominated composer, best known for his scores to award-winning TV dramas including Cold Feet and Kingdom starring Stephen Fry and feature films Saving Grace and Michel Blanc's Summer Things.

He works from a studio at the end of his garden in Oxford. Most recently he's written scores for the children's BBC series Leonardo which follows the adventures of the teenage Leonardo da Vinci and his friends. Mark also scored the epic computer animation movie March Of The Dinosaurs for ITV, made by the team who created Walking With Dinosaurs. He has recently completed the theme for Gryff Rhys- Jones' forthcoming BBC1 series Britain's Lost Routes and is currently working on a second series of Leonardo and the BBC film Best Of Men.

Check out this video showcasing just some of Marks work in the BBC series Leonardo.

For many years Mark had a dual career, co-presenting the eclectic weekly music show Mixing It on BBC Radio 3. Its 'anything-goes' musical brief and chat initially annoyed many regular Radio 3 listeners but hung in there for 17 years.

Mark is passionate about technology, and spends most of his time keeping his multi-computer studio up to date. Oh and he supports Arsenal.

He's written for Universal for several years, something he really enjoys.
